When treating exotic pets their living conditions, food, companions and general husbandry is vital information for your vet to know. This will help your vet consider all factors when reaching clinical decisions or being able to offer advice. So before you take a trip to the vets can you...
Take pictures of their set up (vivarium, tank, cage, hutch)
Make a note of their diet - both their daily food and any treats!
Make a note of any bedding, lights (and when they have been changed) or specialist equipment or enrichment materials
Are they in the correct pairing/group if they are social animals?
For social animals please feel free to bring both animals in a pair to the vets when you come!
If your pet is coming in for a procedure or hospitalisation please do feel free to bring with them any specific food, lights, bedding that may be useful. Each exotic pet is different so ensuring they have normality while in the vets is important for their recovery!
